Robert Wicklund

Robert Wicklund is a Marfa based artist working across sculpture, installation, and mixed media. His work explores time, decay, and the interstitial spaces between life and death, destruction and renewal. Working with burned, weathered, natural and discarded materials, Wicklund is drawn to objects that bear evidence of their own histories. Fire, erosion, fragmentation, and decay become ways of considering impermanence and the continuous transformation of matter. His sculptures and assemblages occupy an uncertain space between artifact and architecture, ruin and monument, the natural and constructed—preserving and exposing traces of what came before while allowing those remnants to be seen, considered and to take on new meanings.
