Dutchtide
Artist
I have been painting the same empty shop for eight years and I still haven't finished looking at it.
Being from the Netherlands my world revolves around tight structures, neatly organized society, and a strict planning that allows for no spontaneity.
It is only when I visited Japan I felt strangely connected while at the same time completely estranged. A world so different I could not recognize anything yet, it was familiar. How? Why?
10 years so far have I spend answering these questions. My journeys have taken me only so far. It is when I would come back home the clarity would come in and be expressed through my art.
And so here we are, in front of silence. Surrounded by noise. Every second to capture your attention. And yet here, what do we really see? A thousand products lining an empty shop late at night. No one to comfort you. Just you and your reflection.
What do you see?
